Our position is that people are experts: this is at the centre of everything we do
Our approach to video production makes the most of your best assets: your people. We believe that by creating a positive and engaging experience for everyone involved we can achieve better results on and off screen.
Equally, our creative projects work by recognising and building on the existing interests, expertise and talents of the individuals who take part. Each project is designed to develop new skills, confidence and aspirations and provide evidence of what they can achieve.
Meet The Team
Iain Shaw, Director
In the late 1980’s Iain was working as a social action reporter with Radio Forth. He realised that it was difficult for ordinary people to make their views known to decision makers. Media Education was born in 1990 and has been giving people a chance to tell their story their way ever since.
Fiona Stewart, Production Manager
Fiona’s background is in Fine Art and Digital Media. As well as working at Media Education she is a lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University.
Rachel Roberts, Producer/Editor
Rachel is a film maker and photographer with strong editing skills who looks after projects on an individual basis. She also has experience working in the art department for film and television.
Shaun Glowa, Production Team
Shaun’s keen interest in community work combined with his technical film skill set makes him a key member of our team.
Laura Black, Development & Research
Laura can develop your ideas into projects that really work! Her background is working with charities and arts organisations to make sure their projects run smoothly.
Shona McMillan, Festival Radio Project
After gaining a degree in Communications, Shona worked with BBC Radio before moving in to marketing and project management. Having delivered a number of cultural tourism, business and community development projects, she then moved in to freelance photojournalism and broadcasting, producing her own shows with several radio stations. Now, managing Festival Radio Scotland, she is delighted to help young people build their skills and confidence through the opportunities this great project offers.
