Reporter Profiles

Gabriel

My name is Gabriel; I am 17 years old and come from the fair city of Edinburgh. I have many interests but mostly I enjoy reading, writing and comedy (both in the above aspects and watching it). I decided to come on this Go For It course not only because most aspects of media interest me but also because I wanted to see what the Fringe actually involves since I have never actually been to a show. I am a great fan of comedy such as Monty Python so I would like to see more of the festival that created such shows. I go to James Gillespie’s High School and am just entering my sixth year, so this may be my last chance to do something like this, as this will be my hardest year so far. Some things I dislike are manufactured music (and yes that does include The Kooks), modern art and people being insincere.

Ken

Name; Ken
Occupation: Currently unemployed
School or Place of learning: James Gillespies High School
Age: 13
Why did I do festival radio: for the experience and the fun
Hobbies/pass times: I play a fair amount of sport like hockey and table tennis. I like to play on the computer games and to watch T.V.

Florence

My name is Florence Edwards and I am coming up to 13. I went to South Morningside Primary School and I am now in S2 at Boroughmuir High School. I enjoy drama, music, swimming, cycling, singing and meeting with my friends. I play the piano and the flute and I am in Grade 3 for both. My favourite colours are purple and turquoise and in my spare time I enjoy listening to Forth One. My favourite music to listen to is The Kooks, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and my favourite old time song is Shout sung by Lulu. My favourite films are Pirates of the Caribbean and A Walk to Remember. I also enjoy watching musicals but I get freaked out by horror movies.

The most foreign place I’ve been to is Minorca and somewhere in Germany. I hope to go to America next year and I go skiing with my school. At school I enjoy drama, music, history, biology, and art.

I will hopefully be either a radio presenter or an interior designer. When I was younger I broke my wrist but I have never had anything more serious happen to me. I have cycled from Edinburgh to St Andrews in one day and I have cycled round the whole of the Isle of Arran.

I have quite a large family. I have two little sisters called Phoebe (10) and Emily (7). I have many cousins and second cousins and I have 4 grandparents. Most of my family lives in London but I do have some relatives in Scotland.

That’s what has happened to me so far and there is plenty more adventures to come.

Edward

My name is Edward and I am twelve years old, soon to be thirteen. I listen to the radio and my preferred station is Virgin Radio 1215am, although I do like XFM. I like lots of music but prefer rock and pop. My favourite band is the Red Hot Chilli Peppers but I do also like the Kooks. My hobbies include reading, a bit of writing, sports and swimming. I came to this course because there was nothing to do in the week and it sounded quite fun. I have enjoyed this course and hope it continues to be good.
