Reporter Profiles

Fran

My name is Francis, my mates call me Fran. I am 29 years of age. I live in Leith, Edinburgh. I am interested in outdoor activities. I am currently involved in a group called Venture Scotland, our activities are a blend of conservation, mountaineering and healthy living. My sporting hobbies are Badminton, running and swimming. I am currently doing my John Muir Award and will be starting my Duke of Edinburgh Award very soon.

Mark

My name is Mark. I am 26 years old. I live in Edinburgh. I was also born in Edinburgh. I enjoy drawing, going to see football and rugby-stuff like that. I'm into rock music, heavy metal. I would like to start up my own business doing cartoon murals for likes of kids bedroom, nurserys, community centres and things like that. Doing Festival Radio Project has been a really good experience and I have enjoyed it to the max.

Rizia

Studied medicine at Edinburgh Uni, but had a change of heart and became a make-up artist, working mainly in London, Paris and Milan. Had front pages in Italian Vogue and many editorials in other magazines.

Then became a restauranteur – two of them being in the centre of Edinburgh. Sold up while at their peak to spend more time with my two sons.

Now I am studying Journalism at Telford College alongside attending 'Chrysalis' – a personal development project which runs for 12 weeks.

My goals are to open accommodation for the homeless and to write at least one book.

Stephen

Hi, my name is Stephen.

I am 31 years old and I'm attending the Chrysalis Project. Through this project I have been part of the Media Education Festival Radio Project, which I am thoroughly enjoying. I'm unemployed, but I'm still looking for things to do and courses to take.

I am a father of a 14 year old boy who I love with all my heart.

Things I like to do are swimming and weight lifting and looking after my health, as I am diabetic. I am also trying to look after my physique as I was aware of how unhealthy I'd become. Since I've started the Chrysalis Project I have started to look after myself a lot better and become more stable.

I am hoping to get a lot from this media experience and I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far. Even my mother's quite proud of me and I'm looking forward to the end results.

Euan

My name is Euan and I am 33 years old. I have been attending the Chrysalis Project for eight or nine weeks and in that time my self-confidence has risen greatly and I have a lot more confidence. I am orignally from Musselburgh but have been staying in Edinburgh for seven years. I have a nice house in the west end of Edinburgh where I feel really settled.

I have a pet cat called Ziggy who is only one year old – I was given him as a kitten. At the moment, at the Chrysalis Project we are doing a media week which involves going to a few shows during the Festival and interviewing audience and cast members and then editing them on computers. The editing is completely new to me and I am really enjoying all of it. After the project finishes I am hoping to go to “2nd Chance” to do some computer classes and also introduction to Psychology, so all-in-all, things are looking up for me.

Jimmy

Hi there, my name is Jimmy. I live in Niddrie in Edinburgh and attend the Chrysalis Project. I like most kinds of music and entertainment. I would like to go to the gym and keep fit, but I can't afford to at the moment. I hate sitting about doing nothing and at the minute I am just trying to find my place in life. So, good luck to me!

Matthew

I am a reformed drug-addict, now helping others on a voluntary basis. I have also trained as a holistic massage therapist. I have many interests including writing, singing, dancing and metaphysics.
