Iain Shaw, Director

BA Dramatic Studies, RSAMD



In the late 1980's Iain was working as a social action reporter for Forth One. He realised that it was difficult for ordinary people to make their views known to decision makers. Media Education was born in 1990 and has been giving people a chance to tell their story their way ever since. Iain's background is in drama, but he has also been a bus driver, so he's got a few tales to tell.


Howard McKenzie, Education Adviser

Howard is the former head of Jewel and Esk Valley college. In addition to his position at Media Education he also runs his own consultation business.

Production Team

The production team have skills and experience in drama, digital video and audio production, animation, web design and delivering multi-media alternatives to consultation processes and reports. They are all experienced at working with a wide range of people of varying ages and abilities. All have been checked by Disclosure Scotland.


Fiona Stewart, Production Manager

Fiona's background is in Fine Art and Digital Media. As well as working at Media Education she is a lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University.


Mairi Byatt, Learning and Teaching co-ordinator

Mairi is a qualified drama teacher and careers adviser and has also run a successful casting business.


Isabel Donnelly, Production Assistant

Isabel is a talented musician. She manages our accessible audio contracts.


Rachel Roberts, Production Assistant

Rachel is a film maker and photographer with exceptional post production skills.
