Funded through the First Light Lottery initiative, Scotched Myths is a series of six short films made by young people from across Scotland, to scotch the myths of Scotland on film. It gave the young people involved the chance to tackle these myths head on or tell their own stories about scotland

Six films were produced, ‘Homeward Bound’, ‘Your Choice - Beyond Sheep’, ‘It’s What You Make of It’, ‘The Visitor’, ‘The Bell of Dark Island’ and ‘C U Aliens’. Partners on the project included Highland Council, Stirling Council, Royal Blind School Edinburgh, Scottish Arts Council, Scottish Screen and the International Audio Description Agency (who audio described the films for the visually impaired). The films were premiered at a event in the Royal Museum of Scotland, attended by George Reid, Deputy Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament. The young people involved were presented with a video of their film and awards were handed out to each group.

‘Homeward Bound’ went on to be shown on BBC2’s Blast programme and was shortlisted for Best Drama at the ‘Kids for Kids Film Festival’ held in Bologna, Italy.
